NCD Bus Stops
Over 200 bus stops will be built throughout the National Capital District over the next two years at an estimated cost of over K5 million. Each bus stop will cost K60,000 and this will be met by the sponsors who will be given naming rights for two years as part of their advertising strategy.

Policeman Charged Over Assault
A policeman has been charged with assault and other charges after an attack on a woman in Gordons in Port Moresby.

Boat Passengers Survive
A boat carrying 21 men and 42 bags of dried cocoa beans recently capsized in rough seas near Madang, but the passengers managed to reach shore safely, the operator says.

Four people drowned in the Laloki River while trying to smuggle betel nuts into the city, police say. Laloki police station commander Inspector Willie Hoiba said there had been a rise in criminal activities in the Sabusa and Laloki areas since the ban on betel nut sale in Port Moresby last year.

An inquiry is being held into the death in February 2011 of a PNG soldier at the Linton Military Camp in New Zealand. The soldier was in New Zealand for a military engineering course at the Barracks' school of military engineering.

Minister for Works and Implementation, Francis Awesa, has been referred by the Ombudsman Commission to the Public Prosecutor for alleged misconduct in office.

Medical Vessel Fundraising
A dinner, sponsored by by InterOil Corporation and hosted by Youth With a Mission (YWAM), has raised K6.19 million in cash and pledges to go towards a new medical vessel to serve remote regions of PNG.
A PNG owned company will upgrade and seal 9.2km portion of the Ramu Highway in Madang province. The company was given 12 months to complete the project.
Polye Joins Opposition
Former Treasurer Don Polye has officially joined the opposition, bringing three government MPs across with him. Governor of Eastern Highlands province, Hon. Julie Soso is part of the team that has joined the opposition ranks.

Army Happy With Budget
Defence Force commander Brigadier-General Gilbert Toropo is happy with what they have been allocated in the 2015 budget, saying they want to be fully prepared for major events in the country starting next year.
NIO Unhappy With Budget
Gari Baki, director general of the National Intelligence Organisation, is very disappointed that the top intelligence network he heads has been allocated a mere K5.9 million in the 2015 budget. He had asked for K15 million.
He said the request for a major increase was because there were plans for NIO as well as preparations for the upcoming 2015 South Pacific Games and the 2018 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit which would involve leaders of 21 nations.
Over 100 security personnel, from the police and defence force, have been deployed to Hela province in an effort to stop tribal fighting that has plagued the area. 21 people were arrested on the first day of the operation

PNG has welcomed Fiji's return to the Pacific Islands Forum. Fiji was suspended from the Forum in 2009.
Shipping Containers for PNG
Another 13 container loads of goods are destined for PNG. Wantok International was established back in 2006 and collects and ships education and medical supplies to PNG.
