Bougainville Time Zone
From Sunday the 28th of December 2014, the Bougainville Time Zone comes into effect. From this date Bougainville will be an hour ahead of the rest of PNG.
Pacific Games
The Fiji Men's Hockey team is set on winning gold at the 2015 Pacific Games.
Fiji is aiming for the ultimate best; and in the sporting code of hockey, for which they are defending regional champions after winning the Pacific Cup last month, players and officials alike are adamant that they have the winning formula to bag gold.

Kavieng Port Storage
According to the contractor, Lims Construction Ltd (Lims), the storage facility was completed on time and is being prepared for commissioning. It will soon be handed over to PNG Ports Corporation Limited's (PNGPCL) Kavieng Port management for use.

Philippine Airlines
Philippine Airlines (PAL) is looking at flying to Papua New Guinea to accommodate the growing number of passengers. The Philippines Star reported that PAL has filed an application for re-allocation of additional entitlements on the Manila - Port Moresby from the unutilised seat entitlements previously allocated to budget airline Cebu Air Inc. (Cebu Pacific).

Lega Siaka Named in Aussie Team
Papua New Guinea cricketer Lega Siaka has been named in the Australian Prime Minister's XI for the annual one-day match next week. Siaka, 22, will become just the fifth overseas player to represent the Aussie PM's XI when he takes the field against England at Canberra's Manuka Oval on the 14th of January.

Expat Found Dead in Lae
An expatriate businessman has been found dead at his home in Lae, and police have not ruled out murder as a possible cause.
The body of the Singaporean, identified as Tan, was found at his Eriku suburb home. Tan, the owner of Morobe Stationery Company, had been operating in the province for more than 20 years.

Michael Learns to Rock
Fans of Michael Learns to Rock throughout the country are anticipating watching their favourite band of all time perform live for the first time in PNG's Capital Port Moresby this month.

Tuna Not Human Bodies
Investigators say the reports of dead bodies being stored in a wrecked fishing boat off Bougainville are inaccurate. Reports said the bodies of 3 men had been found in the freezer of the abandoned fishing vessel.
But an assessment team which travelled to the island on Monday found that the suspected bodies on the freezer trays were large yellow fin tuna that were the size of adult human beings.

Honiara and Nadi Flights

Virtual Library
Digicel, a mobile phone provider operating in PNG, has distributed 500 free tablet devices to schools across the nation so students can access a "virtual library".
The virtual library is "housed" in Digicel's Port Moresby Data Centre and is fully accessible offline - the tablet devices have been fitted with a unique, secure SIM card, allowing the tablet device to use a dedicated network pathway to connect to the library.
