Warning: PNG web sites seem to come and go. The fact of life is that it costs money to host a web site and there is not much return on the outlay to most businesses in PNG.

If you do click on a link and use the services or even have some comments to make then please contact the people at the relevant web site and let them know so they at least know that someone has gained some value from their efforts. If you are so inclined then mention that you heard about them from this web site. -- The PNG Gossip Newsletter.

In PNG, hospital data suggests that half of all people with HIV die of Tuberculosis (TB). This is because HIV weakens the immune system making it easier for TB to get a hold. Tuberculosis is the fourth highest cause of death in PNG and responsible for over 27% of hospital admissions.

Coffee Export Ban Lifted

A coffee export ban has been lifted after the PNG Coffee growers' federation (PNGCGF) took the Coffee Industry Corporation (CIC) to court over the ban imposed by the CIC on the PNGCGF. The PNGCGF chairman, Mr Jon Yogiyo, has expressed his satisfaction over the court order which would allow them to do normal business and export tonnes of green beans from last year and early this year that would have otherwise gone to waste.

"CIC's action amount to abuse of powers. The action of CIC chief executive officer Ricky Mitio was aimed at driving PNGCGF out of business for the benefit of a few exporters," Mr Yogiyo said.

CIC have applied to have the decision set aside.
