Ela Beach Trees

The Post Courier "The Drum" has mentioned the iconic trees along Ela Beach. -- http://www.postcourier.com.pg/20130902/The%20drum.htm

Iconic Trees
Great to see City Hall pushing for preservation orders on the historic Yar trees along Ela Beach. And it should be interesting when City Hall gives the approval for the road around Paga Hill - as it will mean four lanes of traffic screaming along the city's only beach reserve. We hear they have already given the road reserve away to a current hotel and a proposed new development so what chance a few trees? We are not that optimistic these natural icons will survive.

Save Them
But all is not lost in the bid to ensure our national capital keeps its historical roots while continuing to look green and beautiful. We hear the movement to save these iconic trees has started so to save the famous trees along the Ela Beach road and Sir John Guise Drive send a letter or email to -- gertrudem@ncdc.gov.pg -- and copy -- daveconn1@pomcci.com
