The president of PNG's media council says there is a need for the country’s media ethics codes to be revised, Radio NZ International reports. Alex Rheeney, president of the Media Council PNG, said local media were under fire recently over coverage of recent police shootings of students at the University of Papua New Guinea.

InterOil Acquisition
Exxon Mobil Corporation and InterOil Corporation have announced an agreed transaction worth more than $2.5 billion, under which ExxonMobil will acquire all of the outstanding shares of InterOil. No Confidence Motion
The Government, led by Prime Minister Peter O'Neill, was confident they would be able to defeat the vote of no-confidence in the Prime Minister in Parliament and they managed to get 85 votes out of the 106 members of parliament to say the same. Kaias Prepared
While the East New Britain (ENB) Kaias preparations for the 2016 Export Rugby Championships have been short and limited, the squad has seemingly bonded well. Pala Free
The Supreme Court in Port Moresby has quashed all criminal proceedings against Attorney General and Justice Minister, Ano Pala. The court upheld his appeal, and declared that the warrant for his arrest in 2014 was null and void.

UniTech to Resume
The Council of the PNG University of Technology (PNGUOT) unanimously resolved to salvage the 2016 academic year, and established a tentative commencement date of 29 August 2016, pending approval by the Academic Board. The last days of exams would be 9 December 2016.

Centre for Excellence in Financial Inclusion
The Centre for Excellence in Financial Inclusion (CEFI) has officially launched its website. CEFI was established under the Association Incorporation Act and officially launched on the 24th April 2013 by the Honourable Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, Mr. Peter O'Neill. CEFI is endorsed by PNG's National Executive Council (NEC), as the industry apex organization for coordinating, advocating and monitoring all financial inclusion activities in PNG.

Ryan Pini Prepares
Veteran PNG swimmer Ryan Pini said he's feeling fresh and was excited to compete in his fourth and final Olympic Games next month. The 34 year-old retired after the London Games in 2012 but returned to the pool for last year's Pacific Games in Port Moresby, where he won seven gold medals.

Vital Records Digitized
A volunteer missionary couple from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have spent over two and a half years digitizing records for the government of PNG. Anne and Henry Nom from Hamilton, New Zealand were assigned to serve as records preservation missionaries in the Port Moresby Papua New Guinea Mission.

Direct Medical Consultation
Roberta Morlin is developing an app that will be able to provide direct medical consultation for women in remote PNG. Roberta says she decided to help improve the health of PNG's female population using digital technology. Her concept is an app, called Fe'mahealth [pronounced Fee-mah-health], which will allow women to openly discuss or consult a doctor for medical advice online, instantly, about their wellbeing.

World Soccer Rating
The PNG men's national soccer team has climbed 20 places in the World Soccer Rankings. Ranked 188th in the world since 2012 and slightly dropped to the worst in 2015 to 203rd placing, this year the OFC Nations Cup's performance had given PNG the boost to climb 20 places up to settle at 164th spot in the ranking.

Australia-based medical charity, Open Heart International has been forced to cancel a planned trip to PNG due to a doctors' strike and safety concerns, as political unrest continues in the country.
