Remember that this mailing list is mainly meant for people who have an interest and already know a little bit about the people and geography of Papua New Guinea. The PNG Kina, which is mentioned from time to time, is currently worth about 43 United States cents but varies on a daily basis.
For those who are not so familiar with the geography of Papua New Guinea I suggest taking a look http://maps.google.com
Also remember that the accuracy of the information in this newsletter should not be relied upon - it is, after all, a gossip newsletter.

* PNG Contacts
Received the following mail this week as well....
Trevor,
Just been looking through your web site and Hash House Harriers, and I thought that it would be a good idea to have a register site for ex - PNG'ers so they could register and include their;
- period of tenure
- the company they worked for
- the area they lived in
- their current address
- their e mail address
- their current occupation
- who they would like to contact who visited the site
- and who they would like to get in contact with.
All I can say is go for it. If anyone wants to leave some contact details I'll devote a web page to it.
* Cancelled Projects
It has been announced, finally, that the CAA Radar project and the Paga Hill redevelopment project have both been cancelled. These were the brainchild of former Deputy PM, Michael Nali.
* Unitech
It has been announced that the University of Technology will not be able to open for classes this year unless the Govt. can come up with an additional K9.9 million. All schools and other educational institutions should be able to open.
* Doctors
Another strike by the National Doctors Association is imminent according to Association President, Doctor Bob Danaya. Meetings will be held today around the country and the results should be known soon after.
* Rabaul
Another minor quake has hit Rabaul. This one was centred near Nissan and Cartaret Islands.
* Milne Bay
The Member for Samarai-Murua, Titus Philemon, has said that the Milne Bay province has always been praised as one of the best tourist destinations in the country yet there was little indication of tourist activity. He has made a call to give the people financial assistance to develop and promote tourism within the province..
